After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Internews COVID-19 Webinars

"The COVID-19 pandemic is transforming the information and media systems of every society it touches."

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, Internews, a global media organisation dedicated to improving the health of information environments, together with a range of partners has been conducting webinars to guide journalists across the globe in reporting on matters related to COVID-19.

Webinars have involved experts from Internews, including Internews' Earth Journalism Network, and other media and health organisations such as the Asian Center for Journalism, the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and BBC Media Action, as well as local media organisations. Webinars cover a range of topics and geographic locations across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, Eurasia and North America, and are conducted in English and local languages.

Webinars that have taken place so far have been made available online and cover the following broad categories:

Responsible Reporting and Combating Disinformation - Examples of webinars include:
