Football Coaching Manual 2010 World Cup Edition: HIV Awareness through Football

Published by TackleAfrica, this manual is designed for peer educators and football coaches to provide HIV education to children and young people through football training. It incorporates the SAVE approach which provides a holistic way of preventing HIV by incorporating the principles of the ABC approach (Abstinence, Be faithful, and Condom use).

This is the second edition of the manual which contains two new sections: Living with HIV and Relationships. The Living with HIV section contains drills that emphasise the importance of adherence to HIV medication, and the risk involved in having multiple concurrent sexual partners. The Relationships section focuses on the advantages of joint decision making for couples, and the importance of gender equality. The manual is also designed to provide more information about HIV transmission and prevention, providing support and care for those already infected, and actively challenging the denial, stigma, and discrimination so commonly associated with HIV and important life skills such as confidence and leadership.
