Tools For Life: An Integrated Set of Health Communication Materials for Community Health Workers

This guide is a health communication kit designed for front line community health workers in anglophone and francophone Africa. Tools for Life covers the topics of safe motherhood, nutrition and infant health, diarrhaea, prevention of common illnesses and diseases, and family planning and reproductive health.The components of this kit are activity cards, information cards, and a training guide.

"The kit is designed to enhance community health workers' education, motivation and counseling skills, assist them in engaging their communities in relevant health issues through enter-educate activities, and promote community health workers' visibility and credibility in the community, while linking them with the professional health sector and services. Tools for Life is designed to help community health workers provide consistent health messages to their communities. These messages are based on current protocols used by the international health community and will be updated accordingly."

The Tools for Life Training Guide is a three-day workshop curriculum for supervisors of community health workers to help them introduce and orientate community health workers for using each component of the Tools for Life Kit.
