Media development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Position Your Consultancy Services

Consultants and consulting organisations provide a valuable role in local, national, and international development with often required specialised skills and always important external perspectives to add to the primary sources of local knowledge and analysis.

The Communication Initiative network of 90,000 people and 1 million users per annum across all development issues, strategies, and countries provides a venue to highlight, advertise, and promote the qualities and services of consultants and consulting orgnisations. 70% of the network are in non-OECD countries. As this is a network with a significant percentage of communicators and media people, there is good additional coverage - those folks communicate to their networks and staff teams.

There are four main CI activities to highlight consultancy services: a Consultants theme site; the main Classifieds site; inclusion in the bi-weekly Classifieds e-magazine to the network; and a block that highlights consultants across much of The CI site - click here for an example. All submissions also flow through The Communication Initiative Facebook page and Twitter account.

You can submit your consultancy services outlines here or contact Victoria Martin to submit your information, ask questions, or raise any issues. The costs are as follows:

Developed-country-based Consultants 3 Month Listing - US$200

Developed-country-based Consultants 1 Year Listing - US$500

Developed-country-based Consultants 2 Year Listing - US$750

With thanks and many best wishes for all of your consultancy work - Warren

It's been while, hope you are all good.

I need material on Social Power relations in humanitarian development for my studies. Any links or references (published journal articles, books or research papers) on Participatory Development, Community Participation in decision making etc.

Thank you in advance.
