Media development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
This leaflet was published in Lesotho as part of Onelove, a regional campaign taking place across countries in Southern Africa to raise awareness and dialogue about multiple concurrent partnerships (MCP). The publication explains that MCP is the practice of having more than one sexual partner at the same time in which partners overlap for weeks, months, or years, creating a "sexual network."

The publication includes discussion about the following aspects of MCP.
  • Why is having more than one sexual partner risky? - discusses how HIV can be passed on through sexual networks.
  • How HIV can spread in a sex network? - an illustrated explanation about the vulnerability of partners in a sexual network.
  • Why do people have many sexual partners at the same time? - discuses various reasons why people have many sexual partners, and what can be done to address these identified reasons.
  • What you can do to keep safe? - encourages partners to talk to each other about sexuality and HIV, protect themselves by knowing their status, using condoms, reducing the number of partners, and developing mutual respect.
